Girls blow 26,500 pounds on hair-dos in a lifetime

Women spend the equivalent of a year's average salary on their hair over a lifetime.

According to a UK poll, the average female spends 26,500 pounds on her tresses over a lifetime and a year of her life styling it.

The survey of 3,000 people by OnePoll for celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke also found 40 per cent admitting that styling their hair made them late to the office at least twice a year.

A quarter of the women surveyed also admitted to that they would rather spend money on their hair than food.

One in three women who took part in the survey admitted it took her an average of 40 minutes to style her hair before a night out.

The survey also found that most women own at least three different styling tools, with one in ten owning more than five.

"Our survey shows how well and truly obsessed the nation really is with hair. And so they should be. It's so important to keep your hair looking in tip-top condition," the Daily Mail quoted Clarke as saying.
