Cars galore at Concours this weekend in Geneva - Kane County Chronicle

GENEVA Geneva Concours dElegance, featuring a classic, exotic and rare automobiles, will be held from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday on Genevas Third Street from Campbell to South Street and on all side streets.

Participants from all over the country will display prized automobiles, hoping to be awarded one of the coveted Benz Trophies.

Participants register at 7 a.m., judging begins at 9 a.m. and the Concours will be open and free for public viewing at 10 a.m. The awards ceremony is at 3 p.m. at Fulton and South Third Street.

The Concours showcases the heritage, artistic and engineering significance of the automobile, while showing a collection of award-winning, unique and rare automobiles. The beneficiary of this years event is the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva.

Two private two-hour tours of the automobile collection owned by Ed and Judy Schoenthaler will be held at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Downers Grove. The Schoenthalers have been actively involved in the automobile hobby for more than 40 years. In addition to the automobiles dating from 1919 to 1958, tour-goers can see vintage posters, tin wind-up toys and a model train collection. Refreshments will be provided.

Tours are $25 and by reservation only.

The tours are open to Concours participants and the public.

Also, at 6 p.m. Saturday, there will be a dinner at the Herrington Inn and Spa, 15 S. River Lane, Geneva, and includes a preview some of the automobiles that will be on display during Sundays Concours dElegance event. The cost is $90 per person and is by reservation only.
