Gary Giordano was detained last week by Aruban authorities. The man suspected in the disappearance of a Maryland woman can go from "Mr. Perfect" to frightening, ex-girlfriends and other acquaintances said.
Gary Giordano, who authorities believe was involved in the disappearance of Robyn Gardner, has denied any wrongdoing. He claimed that an ocean current pulled the 35-year-old away while they were snorkeling in Aruba on Aug 2.
Though her body has not been found, authorities believe she is dead.
Giordano's suspected involvement in Gardner's disappearance doesn't seem to shock many of his former flames.
Jeanette Farago, an ex-girlfriend who also was a neighbor of Giordano, told the Associated Press that he could become possessive and angry easily. She said he forced her to give him her e-mail password so he could be sure she wasn't cheating, made her take pictures when she went to the grocery store to prove she was there, and would even text her details of what she was wearing so she would know he was watching her.
"He's Mr. Perfect," she told the AP. And then he's "totally different".

Farago said Giordano also tried to force her to go on a cruise with him and became irate when she refused. She believes Gardner may have been in a similar situation.
During his divorce from his first wife in 2003, Giordano and his ex were both accused of domestic violence. While he alleged that she hit him with a spoon in the back of the head, she claimed that he threw phones, cursed and was violent towards one of their three children.
But friends paint him as a gregarious guy who was charming and found it easy to m ake friends.
"He'd talk to anybody, male or female," Eric Curtis told the AP. "And within minutes, he'd have anybody laughing."
Authorities believe Giordano met Gardner on an online dating website. He was arrested two weeks ago while trying to board a plane.
