2 O.C. names among biggest tax delinquents - msnbc.com
The State Board of Equalization had added two Orange County entities to its list of biggest sales and use tax delinquents.
Scott Francis Armstrong in Garden Grove owes $1.034 million in unpaid taxes, and CL Financial Corp., doing business as Coastal Coachworks in Fountain Valley, owes more than $867,000, the board says.
Neither Armstrong nor Coastal Coachworks, which customized luxury vehicles, could be reached for comment.
The pair is among 18 names added to California's list of largest unpaid sales and use tax delinquencies for the third quarter. They owe a collective $22.1 million in taxes. By law, the list of 250 biggest tax delinquencies is put online and updated quarterly. All 250 entities owe $409 million in unpaid taxes.
Publication of the list of tax delinquencies is a successful way to prompt delinquent taxpayers to come forward and pay the amounts due promptly, the Board of Equalization says. Since the list has been put online in 2007, 37 taxpayers owing a total of $39.8 million have actually paid $5.2 million.
The biggest delinquency on the list is California Target Enterprises of Downey, owing $18.3 million in taxes dating back to 2002. The largest delinquency newly added to the list is Enilson E. Zapata, Roger's Auto Motor of Los Angeles, owing more than $3.3 million.
