The BOE is required by law to post this information online every quarter, removing amounts that are being addressed through payment arrangement, bankruptcy, litigation or appeal. Each taxpayer is notified 30 days before their information is posted.
The agency had a total of 258 businesses listed this quarter with more than $409 million in combined tax liability.
Low Cost Smoke Shop on Phelan Road in Phelan, owned by Ibrahim A Alarrabiyyat and Bassam Ahmed Quran, moved to No. 149 on the list owing nearly $1 million, according to the BOE.
Coming in at No. 212 is Pineda Auto Sales on Riviera Drive in Victorville, owned by Elias Pineda. The business owes $824,039 and has had violations dating back to 2008, according to the state.
Since this program began in 2007, the BOE has recovered a total of $5.2 million from 37 businesses that came forward to pay their debts.
